Thomas and I celebrated a weekend Charlottesville getaway to ring in the New Year! We stayed at one of our favorite places: The Clifton. It’s a bit of a splurge for us, but the style and AMAZING food is always a special treat for us. We had planned on going to California, seeing Joshua Tree, and visiting with family, but it just wasn’t in the cards. It turns out a Virginia getaway to Charlottesville for a weekend was just what we needed. So if you are looking for a nice place to stay in Charlottesville, I recommend the Clifton Inn. If you are looking for those beautiful Virginia rolling hills, I recommend Pippin Hill for your afternoon!
Fun fact about Thomas and me: we love playing cards! We always bring a deck of cards with us when we travel. For Christmas, we were gifted a cribbage set, so that was our game of choice this weekend! We visited Pippin Hill, one of our favorite vineyards, and played cards. All day long. It was amazing. So far, the places around the globe we have played cards include the city of Boston, the Caribbean, Big Sur, CA, and Dubai. As an added bonus, whenever I saw people taking a selfie with the beautiful views, I offered to take their picture! I took a free picture for about five families. To see how happy they were to have that picture from Pippin Hill made my heart feel so full.
My biggest takeaway from this short getaway to Charlottesville would be that it is the simple things that I am going to appreciate more in 2021. Simple things like a delicious cup of coffee in the morning. Simple things like how the light comes through the window. And simple things like a tasty glass of wine and playing cards with my husband. What are the simple things that you appreciate?
